Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in a small town in central Indiana. She and her husband Rick have two adult children and have lived in several states across the US. Prior to retiring from her long-term position as a systems analyst/programmer/project manager and people manager for an HR consulting firm, Kathleen was a college administrator, worked for the nonprofit Taskforce on Education for the Handicapped, and was a database software educator.
Kathleen is drawn to UUism through the belief in the “interdependent web of all existence” and involvement in social justice which has been a part of her life from an early age. In her twenties she spoke for the ERA, chaired a rape prevention taskforce, and started a Big Sisters organization, going on to serve as Big Brothers Big Sisters BOD President for several years. When her children were of school age, she ran for the school board in Pennsylvania and was elected to serve. A concern and love of animals was innate and fostered by her mother from an early age. Kathleen has been vegetarian since the late 1990s. Her path to embracing a totally plant based diet began in 2015 when she became involved in Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary that was being organized and was 100% volunteer run. Later she joined the staff as the Volunteer and Administrative Director. All that she has learned from her experience at Luvin Arms has made Kathleen passionate about sharing knowledge and providing support to change hearts, minds, and behavior resulting in more compassionate lifestyles and the end of animal suffering.
In 2023 Kathleen, her husband, and their 12-year-old Landseer Bentley whom they adopted at age 8, moved from Colorado to Indianapolis, IN.
