The Consequences of Trump's Return for Animals

Trump's second term (Trump-2) poses unprecedented threats to animals through deregulation, weakened environmental protections, and policies favoring industry over conservation. Executive orders have accelerated fossil fuel extraction, logging, and habitat destruction while dismantling wildlife protections, climate policies, and oversight mechanisms. Farmed animals, animals used for research, and other animals also face increased risks due to diminished welfare regulations and enforcement. While a few animal-friendly measures were enacted during Trump’s first term, systemic factors such as loyalty mandates, industry influence, and attacks on expertise and oversight strongly suggest a worsening outlook for animals under Trump-2.
